Discovering blogs

Home > thoughts

Every now and then, I like to follow the links I find in a blog post to see where they take me.

Most of the time the post is from a blog I follow, but not all the time.
I like the idea of weblinks, the idea of connections between blogs or websites.

I am not talking about SEO, I have nothing against backlinking strategies, but I am focusing on personal connections and natural linking.

A couple of weeks ago I was reading a post in Lars-Christian's blog, in response to Glyn's post and I thoughts how true the phrase "no man is an island" is, and how common and widespread the desire to find new content and create new connections is.

I just want to share how I find new blog. I don't know how helpful could it be, but why not? I start with the resources I prefer, the ones that use randomness!

Those three websites make me travel from a blog to another and reading about different topics. When I have ten minutes I start a random journey.
It's fun and when I find something interesting I add it to my feed reader and/or i send an email to the blog owner, who every time turns out to be a very polite person and happy to start a new conversation.

Then I go on with directories (actually even the links above are directories, but the randomness thing puts them to another category, in my opinion)
These two are my way to go

The first one collects the site that make use of the "slash pages", here for more https://slashpages.net/.
The second one is more like a classical directories, but with a more "personal" connotation.

Another way is using blogrolls. I don't have one in my website, but many blogger have them and they are full of links, so starting from a single blog I can find many many others.

A bonus resource: Manuel Moreale's People & blogs:

People and Blogs is a weekly newsletter series where interesting people talk about themselves and their blogs

Every Friday I know I will receive a new blog to read, and each interview will contain links and suggestions to other blogs too.

What about you? Do you know other useful resources?

Here I save my thoughts and reflections on mainly digital topics. They derive from what I read, watch and listen to, which I try to reorganise.

Data marketer, product management, python and agile methodologies. This space is my single source of truth.
Here I share #thoughts and #buildinpublic, waiting for the A.I. to conquer the world.
Personal opinions and considerations.
